Yes. Once the ETIAS visa waiver program becomes mandatory in 2025, all American citizens will need to apply online.
The electronic ETIAS visa Switzerland replaces the current visa-free system, which allows for short-term travel within the Schengen region. It will be in effect from 2025 and will continue to be in effect after that. There will be a grace period for international travelers and border officials of up to six months. This is in order to make the transition easier.
